No. 1 South Carolina take down No. 2 Connecticu­t

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas — Aliyah Boston had 22 points and 15 rebounds to help No. 1 South Carolina beat second-ranked Connecticu­t 73-57 on Monday to win the inaugural Battle 4 Atlantis tournament championsh­ip.

This was the 61st meeting between the top two teams in the women’s AP Top 25 poll and the sixth time it has happened in November. The No. 1 team holds a 38-23 advantage. The last meeting of the top two teams before Monday was between these same squads back in February. Uconn was the No. 2 team and won 63-59 in overtime.

The Gamecocks (6-0) wouldn’t let the Huskies (3-1) beat them in the Bahamas, outscoring them 16-3 in the final quarter.

South Carolina, which outrebound­ed Uconn 42-25, held the Huskies to just three points in the fourth quarter.

Paige Bueckers, Uconn’s sophomore sensation, had 19 points to lead the Huskies, who had won nine of the 10 previous meetings between the schools.

No. 23 South Florida 71, No.9 Oregon 62: At Paradise Island, Bahamas, Elisa Pinzan had a career-high 26 points to go with 10 assists as the Bulls (4-2) scored 28 points off turnovers in the third-place game at the inaugural women’s Battle 4 Atlantis.

MEN

No. 5 Duke 107, The Citadel 81: At Durham, N.C., Freshman forward Paolo Banchero scored a career-high 28 points and Wendell Moore Jr. had 22 for the Blue Devils (6-0), which completed a five-game homestand with five double-digit victories.

Bulldogs (3-2) coach Duggar Baucom collapsed on the court a minute into the game and was taken to Duke University Hospital. The 61-year-old Baucom was conscious as he was helped out of the gym.

No. 10 Kentucky 86, Albany 61: At Lexington, Ky., Tyty Washington Jr. scored 20 points on 7 of 14 from the field for the Wildcats (4-1). De’vondre Perry scored 18 points for the Great Danes (0-5), who shot 34% from the field.

No. 13 Arkansas 72, Kansas State 64: At Kansas City, Mo., Connor Vanover scored 14 points as the Razorbacks (4-0) survived after blowing most of an 18-point lead. Selton Miguel finished with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Wildcats (2-1).

Cincinnati 71, No. 14 Illinois 51: At Kansas City, Mo., Mike Saunders Jr. scored 20 points, Jeremiah Davenport added 19 as the Bearcats (5-0) overcame an early 15-point deficit. Kofi Cockburn had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Fighting Illini (2-2).

Ohio State 79, No. 21 Seton Hall

76: At Fort Myers, Fla., Buckeyes (4-1) guard Meechie Johnson Jr. made a gamewinnin­g 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left to take down the Pirates (3-1). Johnson was 2 of 5 from the field for eight points.

No. 23 Florida 80, California 60: At Fort Myers, Fla., Colin Castleton scored 16 points, Tyree Appleby added 15 for the Gators (5-0), who shot 50%. Jordan Shepherd scored 15 points for the Golden Bears (2-3).

No. 24 Southern California 98,

Dixie State 71: At Los Angeles, Boogie Ellis finished with 19 points and five rebounds as the Trojans (4-0) shot 52% from the field. Max Agbonkpolo added 17 points off the bench.

MOUNTAIN WEST

South Dakota State 102, UNR 75: At Sioux Falls, S.D., Douglas Wilson scored 24 points on 9 of 11 shots from the floor for the Jackrabbit­s (5-1), who picked up their fourth straight win. Warren Washington had 20 points for the Wolf Pack (1-4), who have now lost four games in a row.

Colorado State 71, Northeaste­rn

61: At St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, David Roddy led the Rams (6-0) with 27 points on 10-13 from the field. Jahmyl Telfort had 18 points for the Huskies (3-3).

New Mexico 88, Western New Mexico 63: At Albuquerqu­e, N.M., KJ Jenkins scored 20 points off the bench and handed out five assist as the Lobos (4-1) routed the Mustangs (4-1). Jovan Blacksher Jr. led the Antelopes (3-1) with 20 points.

Wyoming 68, Grand Canyon 61: At Phoenix, Hunter Maldonado had 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists shooting 54% from the field for the Cowboys (4-0).
