FROILAN GARZA SANCHEZ

Mr. Froilan Garza Sanchez (Froi) was born on February 24, 1937 in Austin, Texas to parents Paula and Fernando Sanchez. He passed away on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2021 at the age of 84. A devoted husband, he married Mary Frances Sanchez (Garcia) in 1954 in Austin. They had three wonderful children: Maria Maricelda Kozlowski (husband Tom), Froilan Eldifonso Sanchez (wife Michelle), and Frederick Sanchez. He joined the United States Air Force in 1954, becoming a sergeant, and serving world tours in Vietnam, Thailand, Iceland, and Japan. His last assignment was Nellis AFB and he and his family settled in Las Vegas upon his retirement. After leaving the Air Force, Froi worked in the hospitality industry in Las Vegas for over 20 years, including working the at Landmark Hotel and Casino. Hardworking, happy, and ever the person to find the joy in every day, Froi loved telling jokes, fixing cars old and new, jogging, and was constantly helping to solve problems and wanted to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. He was a good neighbor and a good friend, a mender of hearts, and had a boyish way of being mischievous and fun. A loving father, grandpa, and great-grandpa, he often worked two or three jobs and generously gave extra time, resources, and wise advice to all who knew him. He is survived by his cherished wife of 67 years Mary Sanchez, his three children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as 5 brothers and sisters. He will be remembered by his care-free laugh, his smile, his jovial whistling, and the love he showed all the time to his family and friends.
