GILBERT BARBIERI

-

GILBERT BARBIERI, 81, of Las Vegas, passed away September 14, 2021. Gilberto Carlo Barbieri, or more commonly known as Mr. B, was born April 19, 1940 in Sesto Fiorentino, outside of Florence, Italy the middle son of 5 brothers. Gilbert has been a resident of Las Vegas since 1966. He is survived by his son, Marco; his daughter-in-law Roxana; his two grandchildren Max and Siena, and three brothers.

An ambitious businessman, loving husband and father, and humanitarian who played a part in Las Vegas' development. Born during WWII Gilbert had many memories and inspirations growing up during and after the war. His dreams were always bigger than his locale and by his teens he was studying hospitality in England and then working in Switzerland where he met his future wife, Annamaria. After working together in Italy, France and Germany, the two were married when Gilbert had an opportunity to go to Canada to be employed at a Swiss restaurant opening there. This led to a job working in the Bahamas and then a cross-country trip visiting and working across the US. Arriving in Las Vegas in the mid-'60s was like no place they had ever seen and what was originally imagined as just another destination became home as Gilbert worked in restaurants at The Tropicana, Flamingo, Hilton and Caesar's Palace. During the day he learned about investing and maintenance saving up to purchase his first 4-plex. Over the years he acquired further apartment and motel properties allowing him to retire from working nights by 1989. Since, Gilbert focused solely on his property management business, Casa Mia, where he acquired a vast portfolio of residential and commercial properties throughout town, as well as being engaged in other aspects of investing. Always calm and good-natured, Gilbert loved people. He often went out of his way to assist them. He was smart at business, yet good with his hands when it came to maintenance and repairs. Gilbert truly enjoyed what he did and was mentally sharp and working till the end. Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer struck him down and he passed 3 weeks after his diagnosis.

We love you and you will forever be in our hearts. Please let your spirit guide us. Please join us to celebrate the life and mourn the passing of an outstanding individual, father, businessman and visionary. All are encouraged to join us in remembrance.
