PATRICIA DALUGA

-

Patricia Daluga was born August 31, 1936 in Waukegan, IL to Josephine C. and

David J. Klingenberg. After her parents divorced and her mother remarried, she was adopted by the man she always called "Daddy," Paul H. Eisenhart. Pat grew up in Waukegan, attended St. Anastasia Elementary School, and graduated from Holy Child High School in

1954. Her parents had a daughter, Mary, when Pat was in high school, and another daughter, Paula, while she attended Quincy College in Illinois. Pat’s future husband, Richard Daluga, also grew up in Waukegan, but he went to public schools, so they didn’t meet until they both went away to college and came home for Christmas vacation. Their friends set them up on a date for New Year’s Eve, and that was the start of their romance. They dated and wrote each other for a while, but Pat thought she had a calling to be a nun, and entered the convent of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus during her sophomore year of college. After three months, she left the convent. Pat and Rich got engaged shortly thereafter, and they were married at St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan on July 6, 1957.Thus began the couple’s 61-year adventure as an Army officer and Army wife! Pat and Rich lived in a total of twenty homes over the years in Georgia, Texas, Washington, Louisiana, West Point, NY, Kansas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Hawaii, and West Germany. They had three children: Cathie (born in Texas), Josie (born in Washington), and John (born in Hawaii). Pat and Rich traveled a great deal, especially when the family lived in Europe, and after the kids were out of the house! They traveled throughout Germany, Italy, England, Switzerland, and the U.S., including several visits to Alaska. As a strong woman, Pat held down the fort as a single mom when Rich was stationed overseas, in Vietnam from 1965-1966, and in Laos from 1972-1973. Pat always created a lovely, cozy home wherever the family went. She had a great sense of style and was a wonderful interior decorator who could sew curtains and paint walls with the best of them! She was an amazing seamstress and made beautiful clothes for herself and her daughters, and made her kids some nifty Halloween costumes over the years. Pat had a love and talent for music and singing, a gift she passed along to her children. She played the piano, and sang in church choirs and Officers’ Wives Club choruses - the "Notables" at Fort Leavenworth, KS, and the "Choraliers" at West Point, NY, where she participated in a concert of "Mozart’s Requiem." When Rich retired from the Army after 24 years, he and Pat moved to Hopedale, MA. Eventually, Rich felt the call to become a deacon in the Catholic Church, and after the five-year process, he was ordained as a deacon in the diocese of Worcester in April, 1995. He served for nine years at St. Mary’s in Milford, MA. After final retirement, Pat and Rich moved to Henderson, NV to be near their daughter, Josie, and her family, but also to escape the harsh New England winters! Rich served as a deacon at St. Thomas More in Henderson for eleven years, from 2004-2015. Pat and Rich served God together in many ministries, their favorites being marriage preparation and RCIA. They also loved their deacon support group, and enjoyed socializing with the other deacons and their wives. Pat was also a member of the Retired Officers’ Wives Club of Southern Nevada. She served as Parlimentarian for a year in that organization. Pat was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Richard Daluga; daughter, Josephine Daluga;, and brothers-in-law, Robert Daluga and Douglas Macisaac. She is survived by her children, Cathie Kohlmann (Jim) and John Daluga (Susie); son-in-law David Schultz; grandchildren, Alexandra and Max Schultz, and Kevin Kohlmann; sisters, Kathleen Macisaac, Mary Mehl (Louis), and Paula Eisenhart (Evan Zucker); brother-in-law, Neil Daluga (Dianne); sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Lazzaretto and Shirley Myers; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thu., Feb. 16. Mass will be at 11am Fri., Feb. 17, both at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Henderson, NV. "Behold, I make all things new." Revelation 21:5
