A note to our readers

- Glenn Cook

I struck out looking on a fastball down the middle. I was picked off second base with two outs — on the hidden ball trick.

I was called out after sliding home — and coming up 2 feet short.

Pick your favorite baseball blunder and apply it to yours truly. The Review-journal — more specifically, me — halted the publication of Major League Baseball box scores in Monday’s newspaper, shifting the page to our eedition. And you, our readers, filled the email inboxes and voicemails of top editors with boos.

“You’re a bum, Cook!” (My wife holds nothing back.) There are no do-overs in baseball. But an editor can admit to making a mistake and walk it back.

I heard your complaints. So, resuming today, the baseball page is back in the newspaper where it belongs.

I’m genuinely sorry for upsetting many of you. I’m also heartened to know that so many readers get so much enjoyment reviewing the previous day’s baseball games in the newspaper. And, rest assured, you’ll soon see NFL box scores in the newspaper, as well.

The Scoreboard feature, which rounded up scores, standings and statistics from other sports, will remain in the eedition going forward, although some will be published on Page 2C daily. And you’ll still find national and international coverage that can’t fit in the print edition on the Sports Extra pages in the eedition.

Thanks for caring enough about your subscription to contact us and tell us how important baseball box scores are to your newspaper-reading experience. And thanks for reading the Review-journal.
