John J. Marino passed away August 17th peacefully at Nathan Adelson Hospice of Las Vegas. John was born June 6th, 1936, in Brooklyn New York to Anthony and Jenny Marino. He had one older sister Katherine Thiede, who preceded him in death. John had an interestin­g career whereas he was known as Terry James. He was a natural born entertaine­r, beginning as a young man around Brooklyn, to a Poconos resort where he had to speak Yiddish. He was taught Yiddish and Italian by his father working in the fish market. John and his band opened the entertainm­ent at the famed La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California. He moved to Las Vegas in the 1950s and performed several years at Don the Beachcomer at the Sahara Casino. He had a beautiful singing voice as well as being a saxophone player. John was also a talent agent in Las Vegas, a part owner in Boylesque and helped to promote many entertaine­rs over the years. He had a quick wit and loved meeting new people. John had many close friends and remained close to his childhood friends Dominic Riverso of Las Vegas and

Anthony Martorano of Brooklyn, New York. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carlla, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Walter and Toni Boenig, and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives who will miss him. John and Carlla had one son, Jeffrey J. Marino, who passed away in July of 1988 and left a void in their hearts. A celebratio­n of life will be scheduled at a later date.
