DANNA GREGORY

-

It is with profound sadness that the family of Las Vegas native and resident Danna Gregory, 64, announces her passing. We take solace knowing that Danna left us peacefully while at her Utah cabin, her sanctuary. The clouds lifted that day.

Danna was born to Barbara Gregory and Johnny De Sabato, and raised by Barbara and the Honorable Toy R. Gregory, Jr. She graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1977 where her mother had graduated 22 years earlier. While raising her three girls, Danna courageously went back to college at UNLV, earning her Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and, later, her Master's Degree. Danna went on to become a beloved school teacher, a role she cherished. She taught in Las Vegas and on the islands of Hawaii, Kauai and Lanai "where many of the kids don't wear shoes", she would remark.

Danna was a force of nature, but she had a heart of gold. She was known for her quick wit and no-nonsense personality. Danna was the pillar of the family, and doted on her daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, her pride and joy.

Danna was the perfect hostess, entertaining friends and family at many gatherings in the home she shared with her life partner Ed Cail. Danna was also surprisingly handy and could fix anything, including crawling under the cabin to mend pipes.

Danna loved to thrift and had a keen eye for antiques. She had an affinity for country music and Elvis Presley. Danna was a big fan of the Golden Knights and was thrilled to see them win a Stanley Cup. She spent much of her retirement at her cabin where she enjoyed reading, spending time with family, and being alone. It's where she found peace and solitude, so it is comforting to know this is where Danna took her last breath.

Danna made a lasting impact on so many lives. Our fond memories with her are a blessing to us all, and her unwavering strength will continue to inspire us as we move forward without her.

Danna is survived by her mother, Barbara Gregory, her four siblings, Dawn, Daron and wife Judy, TR and wife Chris, and Tory, as well as her daughters Shandy, Jenifer and husband Justin, and Brittany. She is also survived by her twelve grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six nieces, and eight great nieces and great nephews, as well as Ed Cail and his son EJ.

You can shed tears that Danna is gone, or smile because she lived. Death is just Nature's way of saying "Your table is ready".

We look forward to seeing you at Danna's Celebration of Life to be held August 26th at 11:00AM at Central Christian Church, 1001 New Beginnings Drive, Henderson, Nevada 89011.
