Fr. Paul Eyler, son of Jesse and Myrtle

Eyler, was born on February 18, 1936 in Greensburg, PA. He graduated from the University of Buffalo in 1957 and received a Masters in Education from Canisius College in 1959. He received his theologica­l training at the

Preceptori­al Council, a small seminary connected to the University of Buffalo. He was ordained priest in 1961 by Metropolit­an EPIPHANIOS of Akkar, Lebanon. He moved to Las Vegas with his wife

Ilean and children where he founded St. Michael’s Antiochian Church in 1964.

While at St. Michael’s, he also taught multiple languages for 30 years in CCSD at JD Smith Junior High School. He was often greeted by his former students throughout Las Vegas. Upon retiring from St. Michael’s and CCSD, Fr. Paul became a member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. For over 20 years Fr. Paul was blessed to be a part of the community that always welcomed him with love and respect. He was proud to serve with Metropolit­an Ilia, Father John Hondros and Father Constantin­e Raptis during his time at the church. Father Paul enjoyed cruising around the world with his wife Ilean. For many years they spent time in Mount Charleston and Big Bear where everyone was always welcome to visit. He enjoyed gardening and boating during the day and watching Jeopardy with many of his grandchild­ren. Father Paul is preceded in death by his wife Presvytera Ilean to whom he was married for over 60 years, his son Michael (Ruby) and son-in-law Robert (Buzz) Eyler. He is survived by his children Jean (John), Dennis (Cheryl),

Pamela, Jesse (Dianna) and John (Elizabeth), 12 grandchild­ren, 15 greatgrand­children, and 1 great-greatgrand­child. Father Paul was a good and true servant of Christ. All services will be held at Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. 5300 El Camino Rd Las Vegas, NV 89118. Visitation will be Tuesday August 22, 5:00 p.m., Trisagion Service 6:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy Wednesday August 23 9am, Funeral 10:30 a.m. and Noon Burial at Palm Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church 5300 El Camino Rd Las Vegas, NV 89118.
