Panthers’ Young wins duel between top two draft picks

Bryce Young outdueled C.J. Stroud in a battle of the NFL’S top two draft picks, and Eddy Pineiro kicked a 23-yard field goal as time expired to send host Carolina past Houston 15-13. Young, the No. 1 pick, threw for 235 yards and a TD. He led a winning 15-play, 86-yard drive that took more than six minutes in helping the Panthers (1-6) snap a 56-game slide in games they trailed in fourth quarter. Stroud threw for 140 yards and ran for a TD. The Texans (3-4) had six sacks, held a 229-224 edge in yards of offense and limited Carolina to 44 yards rushing.

■ Titans 28, Falcons 23: At Nashville, Tenn., rookie Will Levis threw for 238 yards and four TDS in his NFL debut, with wide receiver Deandre Hopkins making four catches for 128 yards and three TDS for Tennessee (3-4). Desmond Ridder absorbed five sacks before being replaced by Taylor Heinicke, who led Atlanta

(4-4) to points on four of his first five possession­s.

■ Ravens 31, Cardinals 24: At

Glendale, Ariz., Gus Edwards ran for two of his three TDS following intercepti­ons by Baltimore (6-2), which mustered 268 yards of offense. Arizona (1-7) held Lamar Jackson to 157 yards passing and one TD and 18 yards rushing. Cardinals tight end Trey Mcbride had 10 catches for 95 yards and a TD.

■ Seahawks 24, Browns 20: At Seattle, Geno Smith threw a go-ahead 9-yard TD pass to rookie wide receiver Jaxon Smith-njigba with 38 seconds left for Seattle (5-2), which rebounded after blowing a 14-point lead. Cleveland (4-3) twice settled for third-quarter field goals when drives stalled inside the Seahawks’ 10.

■ Saints 38, Colts 27: At Indianapol­is, Derek Carr threw for 310 yards and two TDS, and Taysom Hill and Alvin Kamara each scored twice for New Orleans (4-4), which halted a two-game skid. Jonathan Taylor ran for 95 yards for Indianapol­is (35), which yielded 511 yards of offense and lost its third straight.

■ Chargers 30, Bears 13: At Inglewood, Calif., Justin Herbert threw for 298 yards and three first-half TDS for Los Angeles (3-4), which scored on its first five drives. Tyson Bagent threw for 232 yards with two intercepti­ons in his second NFL start for Chicago (2-6).
