Mayflies Acorn TV ■ New Miniseries

Thirty years since they first met and bonded over music, films and a rebel spirit in the small Scottish town of their birth, successful writer Jimmy Collins (Martin Compston) receives devastatin­g news and a shocking request from his best friend, Tully Dawson (Tony Curran): Tully wants to take control of his terminal cancer diagnosis and end his life by assisted suicide in Switzerlan­d, and he wants Jimmy to help. As Jimmy wrestles with this life-changing moral dilemma, the two men reflect on their friendship and the course of their lives, reminiscin­g about a magical teenage weekend in Manchester where they made a vow — to go at life differentl­y. Now, they must face the ultimate expression of that vow, testing their friendship, love and loyalty to the limit. Both episodes of this two-part miniseries are available today.

Roadshow’s Halloween special “Thrills & Chills” features thrilling and chilling appraisals, including a MAD magazine issue No. 8 complete “Frank N. Stein” story, a German wax-head doll, and a Georgian and Victorian collection of mourning jewelry. One find in this episode is appraised between $80,000 and $120,000.

Skeletons and screams abound in the new episode “Día de los Muertos,” in which a pro wrestler and a child support investigat­or compete for a chance to win a $1 million cash prize.

American Experience

PBS, 9 p.m.

In the 1970s, disco dominated American pop music. With its roots in gay urban subculture, and the artists who created it largely Black and Latino, disco presented a major stylistic departure from rock, and its rise to the top of the music charts signaled a cultural shift that some found threatenin­g. This episode, “The War on Disco,” explores the movement that gave rise to disco music and the backlash that tried to destroy it.

90 Day Fiancé: Last Resort

TLC, 9 p.m. ■ Season Finale

In “The Last Walk,” fallout from a night out and the boat ride threatens relationsh­ips on the eve of the commitment ceremony. The final group session reveals further setbacks. The couples decide whether to recommit or separate as the retreat comes to an end.

The Irrational

In “Point and Shoot,” Alec (Jesse L. Martin) agrees to testify as an expert witness in a wrongful death trial for a friend of Kylie’s (Travina Springer). As he faces an old nemesis, he discovers competing emotions around an accidental shooting. Meanwhile, Marisa (Maahra Hill) reaches a decision about the bombing investigat­ion.
