Mayflies Acorn TV ■ New Miniseries
Thirty years since they first met and bonded over music, films and a rebel spirit in the small Scottish town of their birth, successful writer Jimmy Collins (Martin Compston) receives devastating news and a shocking request from his best friend, Tully Dawson (Tony Curran): Tully wants to take control of his terminal cancer diagnosis and end his life by assisted suicide in Switzerland, and he wants Jimmy to help. As Jimmy wrestles with this life-changing moral dilemma, the two men reflect on their friendship and the course of their lives, reminiscing about a magical teenage weekend in Manchester where they made a vow — to go at life differently. Now, they must face the ultimate expression of that vow, testing their friendship, love and loyalty to the limit. Both episodes of this two-part miniseries are available today.

American Experience

In the 1970s, disco dominated American pop music. With its roots in gay urban subculture, and the artists who created it largely Black and Latino, disco presented a major stylistic departure from rock, and its rise to the top of the music charts signaled a cultural shift that some found threatening. This episode, “The War on Disco,” explores the movement that gave rise to disco music and the backlash that tried to destroy it.
