‘Band of Brothers’ Marathon

AMC, beginning at 10 a.m.

From executive producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, this is the story of Easy Company, an elite team of U.S. paratroope­rs whose World War II exploits were as incredible as they are true. This landmark 10-part miniseries, which originally aired on HBO in 2001, is based on Stephen E. Ambrose’s nonfiction bestseller that recounts the remarkable achievemen­ts of a volunteer rifle company, which included the capture of Hitler’s “impenetrab­le” Eagle’s Nest in 1945. Stars Scott Grimes, Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston, Shane Taylor, David Schwimmer and Donnie Wahlberg.

Variety Salute to Service

History, 7 p.m.

For the fourth consecutiv­e year, History and Variety present this moving, hourlong special that honors the indomitabl­e spirit of U.S. military veterans. Montel Williams hosts this year’s event, which spotlights individual­s who, beyond their military duties, have profoundly impacted their communitie­s post-active service. Featured heroes including former Green Beret and NFL long snapper Nate Boyer, who spearheads a program linking former athletes with veterans, and ex-army Sergeant Christy Gardner, founder of a nonprofit dedicated to training service dogs for injured and disabled veterans.

A father (Daniel Lissing) bonds with his daughter and stumbles upon an unexpected romance with a woman (Jillian Murray) while tracking down the original owner of a Christmas time capsule.

Christmas Island

When a snowstorm diverts Kate’s (Rachel Skarsten) first private flight to Christmas Island, she must team up with an air traffic controller (Andrew Walker) to secure her dream job as the family’s pilot.

Beyond the Battlefiel­d

History, 8 p.m.

In the first hour of this two-hour Veterans Day special, host Remi Adeleke lands at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, just outside of San Diego, exploring the day-to-day operations there while also weaving in the fascinatin­g history of Marine Corps aviation, including its humble beginnings in World War I as part of the Navy. In the second hour, Adeleke heads to Army Special Operations Forces headquarte­rs at Fort Liberty in North Carolina. As he meets the sergeants and generals on the base to learn more about the Green Berets and the work they do around the world, their origins and storied history from World War II to the present are brought to life by renowned historians and former Special Forces officers who were there.

Buddy Valastro’s Cake Dynasty

A&E, 10 p.m. • New Series

Featuring over-the-top cakes and an overthe-top family, this reality series goes behind the scenes at Carlo’s Bake Shop in Hoboken alongside celebrity baker Buddy Valastro and his extended family as he works to balance the demands of a rapidly expanding business empire with his demanding home life. This season finds Valastro tackling some of his biggest bakes to date, including pieces celebratin­g Neil Patrick Harris’ 50th birthday and the 20th anniversar­y of Broadway’s Wicked.
