Green finishes strong to claim title in Singapore

Storm forces PGA Tour event into Monday conclusion

SINGAPORE — Hannah Green made a stunning 30-foot birdie at the final hole to clinch a one-stroke victory over Celine Boutier at the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship on Sunday.

Green birdied the final three holes during a final-round 67 to finish at 13-under 275 at Sentosa Golf Club. It is the 27-yearold’s fourth LPGA title.

“I knew on the greens I needed to be aggressive and make sure I got the putt past the hole versus leaving them short,” Green said after her dramatic finish.

Boutier (67), who had said on Saturday she was attending Taylor Swift’s Singapore concert as “a nice way to relax” for the final round, seemed destined to win Sunday as she pulled two strokes clear in the final stages only for Green to produce some magic of her own.

Boutier, who won four titles last season including at the Evian Championship for her first major title, finished at 12 under-276.

“I think I played a lot better than yesterday, which was really positive. I feel like I made some putts and I gave myself a lot of chances,” Boutier said. “So I’m very satisfied with my round.”

Yuna Nishimura (66) had the low round of the day, lifting her to 9-under 279 and into a fourway tie for third with Brooke Henderson (68), Mi Hyang Lee (67) and Nasa Hataoka (69).

■ PGA: At Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, a Monday finish awaits at PGA National after the final round of the Cognizant Classic was interrupted by thunderstorms that brought nearly 2 inches of rain Sunday afternoon and forced everyone off the course for 31/2 hours.

Austin Eckroat was the leader at 15 under through seven holes, one shot ahead of Erik van Rooyen — who roared up the leaderboard by opening his round with six consecutive birdies on his way to an 8-under 63. He finished at 14-under 270 and now waits to see what will happen.

Jake Knapp, the winner a week ago in Mexico, was 5 under on his day through 15 holes, ending Sunday at 13 under and alone in third, two shots back.

Keith Mitchell (65), Shane Lowry (who completed five holes), Alex Noren (through 12 holes) and Billy Horschel (through 17 holes) were at 12 under.

■ LIV: At Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Joaquin Niemann won his second LIV Golf title in three starts, closing with a 4-under 66 for a four-shot victory over Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel. Niemann has three wins in the past three months, including the Australian Open in December and the LIV season opener in Mexico in February.

■ DP World: At Eastern Cape, South Africa, American Jordan Gumberg beat Robin Williams in a playoff for the SDC Championship title.
