Toffoli, Hellebuyck key Jets’ rout of Columbus

Tyler Toffoli had two goals and an assist to back Connor Hellebuyck, who stopped 30 shots, as Winnipeg thwarted host Columbus 6-1 on Sunday.

Nikolaj Ehlers had a goal and an assist, and the Jets tied Dallas and Colorado atop the Central Division. The Blue Jackets lost for the fourth time in five games.

Mark Scheifele reached 40 assists for a sixth season by setting up Kyle Connor’s goal on the game’s first shot 1:26 into the first period, putting Winnipeg up 1-0.

The Jets broke open the game with a four-goal second period that included defenseman Logan Stanley’s fourth goal in 130 NHL games and first this season.

Brendan Gaunce scored 39 seconds into the third period in his fourth game since Columbus promoted the 29-year-old from the AHL’S Cleveland Monsters.

St. Louis, which won its fourth in a row and handed Anaheim its sixth straight loss. Jake Neighbours also had a third-period power-play goal for the Blues, who came up empty on three first-period power plays. Pavel Buchnevich had three assists as St. Louis stayed four points behind the Golden Knights for the West’s second wild card. Troy Terry scored twice for the Ducks.

Eller and Valtteri Puustinen each had a goal and an assist for Pittsburgh in its second win in seven games. Crosby, with his 583rd goal, matched Wayne Gretzky for the seventh most with a single NHL franchise. Detroit lost for the eighth time in nine games.

At Chicago, Ryan Donato, Kevin Korchinski and Joey Anderson scored in a 1:23 span midway through the third period for Chicago in its fourth win in six games. Devin Cooley had 26 saves in the 26-year-old’s NHL debut for San Jose, which lost its fourth straight and 13th in 14 games.

New York, Jonny Brodzinski scored the go-ahead goal with 4:59 left in the second period for the host Rangers in their fifth win in six games. Bo Horvat had two goals for the Islanders, who lost their fourth in a row.

At Ottawa, Ontario, defenseman Dmitry Orlov had two goals and two assists to back Frederik Andersen, who stopped 30 shots in Carolina’s third straight win and sixth in seven games. Ottawa had won three in a row.

■ Canucks 8, Silver Knights 3: At Abbotsford, British Columbia, Aatu Raty scored twice in the opening 5:16 and had two assists as Abbotsford (32-23-6) dealt the Silver Knights (25-30-6) their fourth loss in five games. Marc Gatcomb had two goals and defenseman Filip Johansson three assists for the Canucks, who led 5-2 after one period and 7-2 after two. They went 5-for-6 on the power play while blanking the Silver Knights on three power-play chances. Brendan Brisson had two goals and an assist and Grigori Denisenko a goal and an assist for the Silver Knights.
