Rantanen, Avalanche take down Blues

ST. LOUIS — Mikko Rantanen scored three goals to lead the surging Colorado Avalanche to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. Rantanen scored a goal in each period for his seventh career hat trick and first since April 6, 2023, at San Jose.

Casey Mittelstad­t also scored for the Avalanche, who have won four straight on their current road trip and seven straight overall. Justus Annunen made 30 saves.

Nathan Walker, Alexey Toropchenk­o and Brayden Schenn scored for St. Louis, which had its four-game win streak halted. Jordan Binnington had 31 saves.

■ Flyers 4, Maple Leafs 3: At Philadelph­ia, Owen Tippett scored 19 seconds into the game and later added an assist, and Morgan Frost had a goal and an assist for Philadelph­ia, which played without captain Sean Couturier, who was a healthy scratch for the first time in his 13-year career.

■ Bruins 6, Senators 2: At Boston, David Pastrnak scored two goals less than three minutes apart in the first period, then completed the hat trick in the third to pass team president Cam Neely for No. 7 on Boston’s all-time scoring list with 345 career goals.

■ Wild 4, Ducks 0: At Anaheim, Calif., Filip Gustavsson recorded his third shutout this season, and Kirill Kaprizov extended his point streak to eight games with the 150th goal of his NHL career.

■ Oilers 3, Canadiens 2: At Edmonton, Alberta, Connor Mcdavid scored and set up Leon Draisaitl’s winning power-play goal at 3:18 of overtime as Edmonton won for the eighth time in 11 games.

■ Predators 8, Sharks 2: At Nashville, Tenn., Michael Mccarron scored two goals for Nashville, which extended the team’s point streak to 15 games, tying a franchise record.

■ Jets 4, Rangers 2: At New York, Mark Scheifele scored three goals to back Connor Hellebuyck, who made 40 saves in Winnipeg’s third straight win.

■ Hurricanes 4, Islanders 1: At New York, Seth Jarvis scored twice as Carolina raced to a three-goal lead in the first period to win its fourth straight.

■ Devils 5, Penguins 2: At Newark,

N.J., Timo Meier and Dawson Mercer each scored two goals to back Jake Allen, who made 36 saves for New Jersey, which snapped a two-game skid.

■ Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 3: At Detroit, Patrick Kane scored 48 seconds into overtime for Detroit, which had lost eight of its previous nine games.

■ Canucks 3, Sabres 2: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Elias Pettersson scored two goals for Vancouver, which snapped a two-game skid.

■ Kings 6, Blackhawks 2: At Los Angeles, Anze Kopitar had two goals and an assist to back Cam Talbot, who made 22 saves.
