Kings upended by Edmonton, drop behind Knights in Pacific

Connor Mcdavid had a goal and two assists to back Stuart Skinner, who stopped 32 shots, as host Edmonton beat Los Angeles 4-1 on Thursday. Evan Bouchard had a goal and an assist and Leon Draisaitl three assists as the Oilers halted the Kings’ four-game win streak.

Los Angeles, with 87 points in 72 games, fell one point behind the Golden Knights (73 games), who are third in the Pacific Division.

■ Rangers 3, Avalanche 2, SO: At Denver, Vincent Trocheck scored the decisive shootout goal and had an assist to back Igor Shesterkin, who had 38 saves through overtime and two in the shootout, as Nhl-leading New York won its fourth straight. Colorado lost its second in a row after a nine-game win streak.

■ Penguins 3, Blue Jackets 2: At Pittsburgh, Evgeni Malkin scored two power-play goals for Pittsburgh, both erasing one-goal deficits, to reach 20 goals for a 15th season. The Russian is the 31st NHL player with 15 20-goal seasons. Columbus lost its sixth in a row.

■ Hurricanes 4, Red Wings 0: At Raleigh, N.C., Frederik Andersen stopped 24 shots in his 26th shutout and second this season, Sebastian Aho and Seth Jarvis each had a goal and two assists in Carolina’s four-goal second period, and the Hurricanes clinched a playoff berth.

■ Wild 3, Sharks 1: At St. Paul, Minn., Matt Boldy scored to break a 1-all tie 18 seconds into the third period and back Filip Gustavsson, who had 26 saves and an assist, as Minnesota moved to 7-1-3 in its past 11 games. San Jose lost its ninth in a row and 18th in 19 games.

■ Blues 5, Flames 3: At St. Louis, Brandon Saad scored the go-ahead goal 2:04 into the third period, his sixth game-winner this season, to back Jordan Binnington, who stopped 23 shots and had two assists. St. Louis moved to 7-1-1 in its past nine games.

■ Coyotes 8, Predators 4: At Tempe, Ariz., Logan Cooley notched his first NHL hat trick for Arizona, and Clayton Keller added a goal and three assists as the Coyotes halted Nashville’s 18-game point streak. The Predators had been 16-0-2 since Feb. 15.

■ Islanders 3, Panthers 2: At Sunrise, Fla., Jean-gabriel Pageau scored the go-ahead goal midway through the second period and had an assist for New York, which had lost seven of its previous eight. Florida lost for the sixth time in seven games.

■ Senators 2, Blackhawks 0: At Ottawa, Ontario, Anton Forsberg stopped 19 shots in his fifth shutout and second this season, and Ottawa won its fourth straight while halting an 11-game slide against Chicago that dated to Dec. 20,

2016.

■ Canadiens 4, Flyers 1: At Montreal, former Golden Knights prospect Nick Suzuki scored to reach 30 goals for the first time and had an assist, backing Cayden Primeau, who stopped 29 shots in Montreal’s third straight win.

■ Kraken 4, Ducks 2: At Seattle, Tye Kartye scored the go-ahead goal with 6:57 left for Seattle, which won its second straight after an eight-game slide. Anaheim fell to 1-9-1 in its past 11 games.

■ Maple Leafs 5, Capitals 1: At Toronto, Tyler Bertuzzi scored twice to back Joseph Woll, who stopped 24 shots. Washington had won three in a row and six of its previous seven.

■ Stars 3, Canucks 1: At Vancouver, British Columbia, Roope Hintz had a goal and two assists as West-leading Dallas won its sixth straight and clinched a playoff berth.
