Ten-skater brawl sets tone as Rangers rally past New Jersey
Chris Kreider scored a go-ahead power-play goal with 4:57 left as the host New York Rangers rallied past New Jersey 4-3 on Wednesday in a game that started with a 10-skater brawl two seconds after the opening faceoff.
Eight players were ejected after receiving game misconducts, forcing both teams to play with four fewer skaters the rest of the way.
Rangers coach Peter Laviolette and Devils coach Travis Green also were yelling at each other from their respective benches before play resumed after the fighting.
Artemi Panarin and Alexis Lafreniere each had a goal and an assist for Nhl-leading New York, which had a 41-20 edge in shots in its sixth win in seven games.
Jesper Bratt had two assists in New Jersey’s three-goal second period, after which the Devils led 3-2.

Jonas Rondbjerg scored a tying short-handed goal with 6:01 left in the third period for the Silver Knights (26-32-8), who led 2-0 with 2:06 gone in the first period and trailed 3-2 after two.
