Parker shines in debut vs. Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES — Luis García Jr. hit a threerun homer, CJ Abrams also went deep and the Washington Nationals defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 on Jackie Robinson Day around the major leagues. García went opposite field with two outs in the fifth inning against Tyler Glasnow (3-1), who gave up six runs and eight hits in five innings to take his first loss with the Dodgers.

The right-hander’s wild pitch led to Washington’s first run in the first.

Washington starter Mitchell Parker (1-0) won his major league debut. The left-hander allowed four hits and two runs in five innings. Shohei Ohtani scored twice for the Dodgers, but he flied out to center field as the potential tying run at the plate in the eighth.

Kyle Finnegan pitched the ninth to earn his sixth save.

The Dodgers celebrated the 77th anniversar­y of Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier during an afternoon ceremony involving both teams at his statue in Centerfiel­d Plaza. Every player around the majors wore Robinson’s retired No. 42 and fittingly, the Dodger Stadium attendance was 42,677.

■ Phillies 2, Rockies 1: At Philadelph­ia, Cristian Pache hit a walk-off single with one out in the 10th inning after Bryce Harper made a leaping, run-saving catch in the top of the frame to lift Philadelph­ia.

■ Angels 7, Rays 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Mike Trout’s two-run homer highlighte­d a fiverun outburst in the eighth inning. It was Trout’s 17th game-tying or go-ahead homer in the eighth inning or later.

■ Blue Jays 3, Yankees 1: At Toronto, Alejandro Kirk reached base three times as Chris Bassitt (2-2) won his second straight start, handing New York consecutiv­e losses for the first time this season.

■ Mariners 9, Reds 3: At Seattle, Jorge Polanco and Mitch Haniger homered as Seattle produced a season high in runs. George Kirby (22) struck out six and had no walks in six innings.

■ Orioles 7, Twins 4: At Baltimore, Cedric Mullins saved a run with an exceptiona­l diving catch in deep left-center, then homered and drove in three runs.

■ Mets 6, Pirates 3: At New York, Harrison Bader drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning for the second day in a row, hitting a tworun double.

■ Guardians 6, Red Sox 0: At Boston, Will Brennan hit a pinch-hit, two-run homer in the seventh inning to spoil Boston’s traditiona­l Patriots’ Day game.

■ Rangers 1, Tigers 0: At Detroit, Jonah Heim had two hits and scored the only run to back Michael Lorenzen (1-0), who threw five shutout innings.

■ Giants 4, Marlins 3: At Miami, Jung Hoo Lee had two hits, including a tying single in the seventh inning as San Francisco overcame a three-run deficit.

■ Royals 2, White Sox 0: At Chicago, Vinnie Pasquantin­o homered to back Seth Lugo (3-0), who struck out four in his third straight win.

■ Padres 7, Brewers 3: At Milwaukee,

Jackson Merrill had three hits and singled home two runs during a six-run rally in the fifth inning.

■ Braves 6, Astros 1: At Houston, Austin

Riley had three hits, including an RBI single in a four-run ninth inning.
