Arraez’s hit in ninth propels Padres to win

- From staff and wire reports

Newcomer Luis Arraez singled home pinch runner Tyler Wade from second base with one out in the ninth inning, and host San Diego beat Los Angeles 2-1 on Friday to end the Dodgers’ seasonhigh seven-game win streak.

Arraez, obtained in a trade with Miami last Saturday, was playing in his first home game with the Padres. He singled to center off Michael Grove (1-2) to bring in Wade and set off a wild celebration. Wade was pinch running for Luis Campusano, who hit a leadoff double after homering in the third.

Robert Suarez (2-0) pitched a perfect ninth for the win. San Diego’s Michael King and Los Angeles’ Tyler Glasnow dueled through seven innings.

King struck out 11 and held the high-priced, normally high-powered Dodgers to two hits in seven scoreless innings. Glasnow allowed one hit — a 429-foot homer by Campusano — and struck out 10 for a second straight start and third time in four outings.
