Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are at odds over where to live, and it’s rocking their 11-year marriage

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are in the biggest battle of their marriage.

Nicole Kidman was walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival to promote a new movie, The Killing of a Sacred Deer. But all onlookers could talk about on May 22 was the bizarre display between Nicole and her husband, Keith Urban. He kissed her cheek. They shared a long, lingering embrace. He whispered in her ear. They gazed intently into each other’s eyes. It was so over-thetop, The Sydney Morning Herald flat- out labeled it “performance PDA.”

Nicole and Keith do love each other, but behind closed doors things aren’t as picture-perfect as they seemed at Cannes. The duo, both 49, are embroiled in the biggest fight of their 11-year marriage, Life & Style has exclusively learned. “Nicole wants to move back to Australia so they can raise their children among family, but Keith is opposed to leaving Nashville because his career is there,” says an insider. “They’ve been having this argument for almost two years now. It’s taking a toll on the relationship.”

HOME BASE BATTLE

Keith moved from Australia to Nashville in the 1990s to boost his country career. A year after their 2006 wedding, he asked Nicole to settle there too, and she obliged. But since her father’s death in 2014, the insider says, the actress has longed to return Down Under, where most of her family ( including her mom, Janelle) still lives. And she wants to do it while their daughters, Sunday, 8, and Faith, 6, are young enough to easily adapt. “Nicole likes the laid-back life-

style there,” says a second insider. Says the first insider, “[She] wants her kids to have the same kind of upbringing she did.” Adds the second insider, “Keith feels he has to keep a presence in Music City to stay relevant.” It’s not the only problem they’ve been dealing with. Between Nicole’s shooting schedule (she had a total of four films at Cannes!) and Keith’s touring, they’re often apart. Jealousy can get the better of both of them, says the second insider. The actress recent- ly admitted that she can’t stand it when Keith doesn’t answer his phone and will keep “calling and calling.” And Keith “went off the deep end” when he saw Nicole’s steamy Big Little Lies sex scenes with Alexander Skarsgård, a source says, and was upset by how she flirted with co-star Dev Patel while they were promoting Lion. Keith’s current tour, which continues all summer, won’t make things any easier. “They may seem lovey- dovey,” says the source, “but their marriage is facing trouble.”
