BEN TO JEN: LET’S GET BACK TOGETHER

After vacation in paradise… With their divorce yet to be finalized, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reconnect on a family vacation

It was the first trip they’d taken together since filing for divorce in April, but as Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner stole a few moments alone at Baker’s Bay resort in the Bahamas, they seemed like a happily married couple. “They had a marvelous time,” an insider says of the duo, who spent about a week in the Bahamian paradise with their children, Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5, at the end of June. “It was a great way for them to reconnect as a family.”

And with each other. Jen surprised everyone by taking Ben back and letting him come along on vacation — and while it initially was for their kids’ benefit, the pair got along much better than they thought they would, sources reveal. And now, after being so happy back together, Ben is pushing for an official reconciliation. During the getaway, things went so well, the insider tells Life & Style, “Ben asked Jen to call off the divorce. He never wanted to split and hopes Jen will realize what a great time they had on vacation and want to move forward together.”

DATE NIGHTS AND MEMORIES

Baker’s Bay has long been a magical spot for Ben, 44, and Jen, 45, who’ve owned a home there for several years and return there annually with the kids. And the luxurious locale seemed to work its charm on the

once-happily married couple. “Even though they were with the kids, they did have a nanny along, so Ben and Jen were able to sneak away a few nights for dinners,” the insider reveals. “Of course Ben reserved tables in private rooms filled with flowers.” They didn’t argue during the trip, adds a second insider, noting that Ben and Jen both seemed surprised to get along “like it was old times.”

But charmed as she may have been, Jen isn’t ready to jump back into married life. While Ben went to rehab earlier this year and has been a caring and responsible dad, Jen can’t get past the years she spent coping with his partying and gambling. “Jen is finished with all of his drama,” the insider says.

Ben’s not giving up. “He has so much love for Jen and is excited about working with her on making their family as happy as possible,” says a source close to the couple. And though Jen is trying to move on and has even begun dating, Ben is trying to capitalize on the spark he felt in the Bahamas. “The divorce isn’t finalized yet,” the insider notes. “Ben isn’t going down without a fight.”
