Inside Fergie & Josh’s Shocking Split

Fergie and Josh Duhamel call it quits after eight years of marriage. Meanwhile, Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and Bryan Abasolo fake it for the cameras.

In January, Josh Duhamel and wife Fergie were all smiles as they celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary in Hawaii. So it was no surprise that the singer made a return trek for more fun in the sun in August. But this time, her husband was nowhere to be seen.

There was a reason he wasn’t spotted. Josh, 44, and Fergie, 42, announced on Sept. 14 that they’d “decided to separate as a couple earlier this year.” Fergie was the one who decided to pull the plug on the marriage, Life & Style has learned, and the split took even the duo’s closest friends by surprise. “We really thought they were working things out,” says an insider. “This is shocking. But Fergie and Josh were fighting a lot.”

INTENSE ARGUMENT

In fact, in July, Fergie planned to attend an event Josh was doing for Haute Living in LA, a source says. But a huge fight derailed the plan. “They were yelling at each other,” says the source, “and she never attended.”

The couple had gone through rough patches before. There were trust issues, say sources. And though they adored their son, Axl, 4, “They dis- agreed about if and when to have another baby,” the insider says. In the last days of their marriage, “They were spending a lot of time separately with Axl. It’s very sad.”

Josh and Fergie’s combined $60M fortune is at

stake as the divorce proceeds. But the stars say they’ll continue to put their son’s well- being first. “We are and will always be united,” they said in their statement, “in our support of each other and our family.”

End of an Era Fergie and Josh, who met on the set of his former TV show Las Vegas, were together for 13 years. “We genuinely like each other,” the actor said earlier this year. But, says a source, “There has been trouble between them for a long time.”
