The superb first season of Riverdale wrapped up the murder mystery at its core, but ended with a new one: Who shot Archie’s dad (Luke Perry) in the final seconds? Season 2 begins with Arch (KJ Apa) determined to track down the masked gunman, while Veronica (Camila Mendes) struggles to be the supportive girlfriend and cope with her dad returning from prison. Meanwhile, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse) navigate a romance complicated by his involvement with his father’s gang. Things are a lot more soapy and a little less wonderfully strange than Season 1, but Riverdale is still a great guilty pleasure. DAN JEWEL
