Fierce Feline Flicks

Stars give the sultry cat-eye a seriously sexy update. Here’s how you can copy their ferocious style

Hollywood’s hottest have been making their peepers pop with the winged technique for years, but the latest crop of #Itgirls have found an even more intense way to wear the look — turning that sweet meow into one major rawr! “Outlining the eye all the way around from connecting lines at the tear duct out to an upturned flick at the outer corner imparts more definition and drama than the softer, classic cat-eye,” says Robert Sesnek, the makeup artist behind Hailey Baldwin’s striking look, at right. “And because the shape is more graphic, it makes a bold statement.” Even better? There’s more than one way to try the trend.

“A tight- lined look like Sara Sampaio’s with curves on the outer

and the inner corner of the eye gives the eye strength and delicacy at the same time,” says makeup artist Ismael Blanco, who created the model’s modern flicks, at left. Another way to make eyes shine? Layer the black wraparound line over a colored liner like Sesnek did for Hailey. “I traced her eyes with a rich burgundy shade first, then went over it with a black gel liner —the pop of color and 3D effect keeps a basic black line from looking drab while helping eyes really stand out.”

And whether colored and chunky like Hailey’s or skinny and sharp like Sara’s, Sesnek notes to finish the look with a soft, glossy lip. “The visual balance ensures eyes remain the star of the show.” For the easy steps to fab flicks #Onfleek, read on!
