Cameron & Benji Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden turn to adoption to make their dreams come true

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden are adopting a baby!

Cameron Diaz has never been more in love. The 45-yearold star recently gushed about her husband, Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden, confessing, “I feel so lucky” to have found “my partner in life and in everything.”

Now the husband and wife are taking on exciting new roles: mom and dad. After trying to conceive a child for more than a year without success, they are aware that “Cameron’s age is not exactly conducive to a first-time pregnancy,” says a source. But they’re not giving up. Cameron and Benji, 38, “have decided to try adoption and have started the process,” the source exclusively tells Life & Style. “They want to adopt from within the U. S. and are counting the days. Cameron is very hopeful. Though they are so fulfilled in every way, they feel this would complete their family.”

THE PERFECT TIME

As the pair approach their third wedding anniversary on Jan. 5, everything is falling into place. “Cameron feels like the timing is right,” explains the source. “She’s been asking friends about adoption and reading parenting books. It’s taking time and they have been so patient, but they are both bursting with excitement.”

They have the same vision for their growing family. “Cameron and Benji would love a newborn and have both agreed they want a boy, but they of course will be happy with any healthy baby,” says the source. “They’ve also talked about who they’ll choose as their baby’s godmother and godfather. They both feel Benji’s [twin] brother Joel and [ his wife] Nicole

[Richie] would be perfect. They love their parenting style and trust them completely.”

Nicole and Joel’s kids, daughter Harlow and son Sparrow, actually inspired Cameron to change her mind about starting a family. In the past, the actress has spoken openly about not wanting kids: “I was never drawn to being a mother,” she said in 2014. But since mar- rying Benji, everything has changed. She’s gotten close to her niece and nephew, and “sees how great Benji is with them,” says the source. “That’s a big reason she wants them to start a family themselves. Cameron really wants to be a mom and she feels like Benji would be such a good dad. They can’t wait for that special day when they bring their baby home.”
