Megyn Kelly’s writing a book full of exclusive new bombshells about former Today colleague Matt Lauer

Megyn Kelly is writing an explosive book exposing new details of Matt Lauer’s sexual misconduct.

When the sexual misconduct scandal involving Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein exploded in October, Megyn Kelly had an idea: “She started thinking about writing a book,” says an insider. She felt she had unique insight, since before joining NBC and the Today show in 2017 she’d spent years at Fox News, which had been embroiled in its own sexual harassment scandals — including some she knew about firsthand. Then, when Megyn’s Today colleague Matt Lauer, 60, was fired in late November after his misconduct was exposed, says the insider, “well, that lit a fire under her.”

Now Megyn’s prepared to expose more bombshells. “She wasn’t Matt’s colleague for very long, but long enough to gather enough information about him to fill a book, which is exactly what she’s planning to do,” the insider exclusively tells Life & Style. This book will delve into “Matt’s secret life at NBC, his dirty deeds and horrible antics with women.” Megyn, 47, is already fielding offers from publishers, the insider reveals, and publishing expert David Johnson says a tellall could command a $10 million payday. “Megyn won’t hold back any details,” notes the insider. “She wants to put an end to decades of sweeping these secrets under the rug.”

SORDID DETAILS

Plenty of secrets have already come out. Since his firing, Matt’s faced horrific allegations, including that he assaulted a co-worker who passed out during sex with him in his locked office. (In a statement, Matt called some claims “untrue or mischaracterized” but admitted “there is enough truth in these stories to make me feel…ashamed.”) Even so, there’s much more to reveal. “Megyn’s been getting shocking emails from women who want to tell their stories about Matt,” says the insider. “She says she wants this book to be a wake-up call, not just to men like Matt who are sexual predators and harassers, but to the people who protect them.”

Megyn’s convinced there’s an appetite for a tell-all like this. “Matt was in your living room or at your breakfast table every morning,” notes the insider. “Exposing him in a book, getting to why and how he did it, talking to his victims and colleagues, will be huge.” Megyn was reportedly paid a multimillion- dollar advance from Harpercollins for her 2016 book, Settle for More, in which she claimed late Fox News CEO Roger Ailes sexually harassed her, and a new tellall “would be every publishing house’s dream,” Johnson, CEO of Strategic Vision PR group, tells Life & Style. Megyn’s already proven she’s not afraid to go after Matt. She’s invited his victims to appear on her show, and on Dec. 18, Addie Zinone took her up on it, discussing how Matt drew her into an affair when she was a 24-year-old production assistant and he was a powerful 40-something anchor. “Megyn’s been harder on Matt than any other newscaster,” says the insider. And she has nothing to lose now, especially since ratings for her third hour of Today have gone up since she started discussing sexual misconduct scandals on the air. “Megyn is excited about this project,” notes the insider. “She’s not holding back on anything.”
