From weight woes to money problems, inside miserable Kylie Jenner’s epic struggle before becoming a mom at age 20

Kylie Jenner looked extremely uncomfortable. After walking around a California construction site with her mom, Kris Jenner, and best friend Jordyn Woods on Jan. 24, the pregnant 20-year-old struggled to get into her waiting SUV. It was the first time Kylie, who’s expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Travis Scott, had been seen out since September. “She has completely fallen off the map,” admits a friend, adding that despite Kylie’s recent stealth outing, “if you want to see her, you really have to come over to her house.”
Why? At what should be the happiest time of her life, Kylie is miserable and has gone into hiding, sources exclusively tell Life & Style. Holed up in her Hidden Hills, Calif., estate, she’s struggling with issues including pregnancy-weight panic, baby daddy drama, money woes and first-time-mom jitters. “Pregnancy has been hell for Kylie,” an insider reveals. “She’s crying every day. Kylie thought having a baby would be a dream come true, but instead it has been her biggest nightmare. Some days she feels like her life is falling apart.”
TEARS AND HEARTBREAK
There’s a lot Kylie’s missed out on since she vanished. Virtually silent on social media since December, the star wasn’t included in the Kardashian-jenner family Christmas card and was even a no-show to sister Khloé Kardashian’s own pregnancy-reveal party. “Kylie feels fat and frumpy,” explains a source. “She’s gained 45 to 50 pounds, and although she knows this is natural for someone who is pregnant, she doesn’t want the
world to see her looking bigger. She feels huge compared to her sisters Kim, Kourtney, Kendall — and even Khloé.” While Khloé has said she’s only giving in to cravings in moderation, Kylie is going all- out. “She is eating all her favorite foods, like pancakes and chicken fingers,” admits the friend. “She’ll go as far as to have a bucket of chicken for breakfast!”
Travis, 25, could run out to get her healthier meals, of course — but he’s not always around. “He’s been touring and hanging out with his pals, which hasn’t gone down well,” says the source. Even worse, back in December he was seen leaving Crazy Girls strip club in LA with a group of friends. “Kylie isn’t happy about the fact that Travis likes to party. She would rather he was with her 24/7,” the source notes. At home, she’s left feeling lonely and heartbroken. “She’s extremely hormonal and bursts into tears at the slightest thing.”
That’s making an already-tense relationship even more troubled. “Despite being excited about the baby, they’ve gotten into numerous bustups,” says the source, who notes that the pair conceived very soon after
they began dating in 2017 and still don’t know each other all that well. But that hasn’t stopped Kylie from wanting to rush things. “She’s desperate for Travis to pop the question, but he refuses to marry her,” the source tells Life & Style. “They’ve only been dating for a year, and Travis thinks it’s way too early to walk down the aisle. The more Kylie nags Travis, the more he’s pulling away. Kylie fears that she could end up being a single mom.”
EVERYTHING’S CHANGED
With a $50 million fortune, Kylie would seem to be set for life — and then some. But some in her inner circle fear she could eventually run out of money if she doesn’t decide to return to the public eye after the baby’s born. “Kylie’s spending money like water,” says the source. “She’s bored being stuck at home and is buying anything and everything because she has nothing else to do. Over the past few months she’s blown millions of dollars on herself and the baby.” At the same time, she’s not bringing in what she used to. In fact, unlike other Kylie Cosmetics products, her Jan. 23 launch of new lip colors — for which she didn’t do her usual heavy promotion — failed to sell out. “There have been lots of people approaching her to capitalize on the pregnancy and make some deals. She could have made tens of millions of dollars,” says the friend. But she’s turned them all down. “Instead she’s at home eating junk food and watching movies,” notes the friend. “Her sisters are telling her she’s crazy to not take the deals and make lots of money from this, but she’s not listening.”
To Kylie, privacy is more important right now. The insecure star is reportedly making all visitors sign a confidentiality agreement and fork over their phones before seeing her. Besides, she finds her usual schedule of nonstop public appearances exhausting enough when she’s not pregnant. “Her main priority right now,” says the source, “is to look after herself and the baby.”
Doctors say she needs to. Kylie is suffering from minor complications that may force her to deliver her little girl via C-section, according to reports. “She’s nervous about it,” the source admits. The one thing getting her through all this is her certainty that once her baby girl arrives, it will all be worth it. That’s her focus — that and, of course, the designer nursery. Kylie put together the room herself, her friend says: “It’s all white with butterfly accents and a lot of Lucite, including a Lucite crib.”
A year ago, Kylie never imagined she could be in this position. But now that it’s her reality, “she wants to be a really good mom and prove all the doubters wrong,” says her friend. “She already feels super connected to the baby because it’s a girl.” Still, one thing’s for sure, the insider says: “She isn’t planning on doing this again anytime soon!”
