How She Got That Body

Gigi Hadid packs plenty of punch and limits the munch to maintain her supermodel physique

DIET

Gigi’s approach to eating involves making healthy choices while allowing herself occasional indulgences. “Eat clean to stay fit,” she advises, “and then have a cheat day to stay sane.” Gigi, 22, starts her day with a breakfast of coffee, scrambled eggs and toast, and sometimes she’ll add baked beans to her plate. Burgers are her weakness, so for lunch, while she’ll often go healthy with a fresh arugula salad, she lets herself enjoy the occasional cheeseburger. Sushi is a go-to dinner option for Gigi, and between meals, she keeps it light with chips and guacamole, carrots and hummus or acai bowls.

EXERCISE

Let’s get it on! While Gigi enjoys outdoor activities like bike riding, boxing is her workout of choice. “It’s all about how hard you work and how much you put in,” says Rob Piela, her trainer in NYC. “Gigi is a hard worker.” To get abs like Gigi’s, Piela advises mixing planks, crunches and leg raises four days a week. And Piela is big on warming up with a jump rope. “There’s no better way,” he says, “to slim down legs.”

SIMPLE SECRET

“Growing up,” Gigi says, “my mom always had Evian in the house and constantly reminded us of the importance of staying hydrated.” So Gigi lives by a simple rule of thumb now: She never goes anywhere without H2O. “I now always carry around a bottle,” she says. Having water handy means never getting dehydrated and always having a calorie-free option to put in your belly when hunger kicks in.
