Gwen Stefani explains why she’s ready to retire.
When Gwen Stefani takes the stage at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater on June 27 for the first show of her Las Vegas residency, she’s told friends, it’ll be the beginning of the end of her musical career. “She’s taking an honest look at her life and what’s important, and she sees the end coming very soon,” an insider tells Life & Style. “Gwen sees her Vegas residency as her last stop.” After a 30-year singing career, both with No Doubt and as a solo artist, Gwen, 48, has been speaking openly about her changing priorities and desire to spend more time with sons Kingston, 12, Zuma, 9, and Apollo, 4. “It’s hard [to be a touring musician] with the kids,” she says, “because they’re in school and I’m not homeschooling, and you can’t pull them out. It’s not fair [to] them.” She says the 25-date Vegas residency, made up of small clusters of shows between June and next March, is more manageable for her as a mom. And she has nothing planned beyond that. “I’m obviously at the end of my journey of being a musician because of my age,” she says. In 2015, Gwen filed for divorce from the father of her boys, Gavin Rossdale, and soon after, she started dating Blake Shelton, 41. “Since her marriage to Gavin ended, she’s all about putting family first,” the insider says. “Her kids and Blake are now her main priorities, and she wants to be home with them more.”
