Mother Knows Best! CHRISTIE PLANNING ALEXA’S WEDDING

Alexa Ray Joel is in a marital state of mind, and Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley’s daughter has a perfect partner to plan her big day with: her mom. “She has the most exquisite taste, but she’s not too pushy,” Alexa, 32, told Life & Style at Bella New York’s Beauty Cover launch party on May 29. “She’s like, ‘Take your time, do it at your own pace.’ My mom knows best, so I do defer to her for details.” Restaurateur Ryan Gleason popped the question to Alexa and they announced their engagement on New Year’s Day. Now, they’re hard at work figuring out when and where to say “I do.” “[Ryan and I are] both such New Yorkers, so we definitely want to plan something in New York City,” Alexa says. “We joke that we want a wedding planner like Martin Short in Father of the Bride!” But who needs him when you have Mom? “I don’t want to be too pushy,” Christie, 64, tells Life & Style. “I’m waiting for them to give me the cue that it’s time to jump into high gear!”
