Oliver Hudson could have been making us all cry as Jack Pearson on This is Us, but Milo Ventimiglia, 41, snagged the plum role when Oliver bowed out of the competition for fishy reasons. “I went in and read, and it went very well, and they wanted me to come and do a chemistry read with Mandy Moore [who plays Jack’s wife],” Oliver, 41, recalls. But he couldn’t make it to the callback. “I had a 10-day fishing trip planned… fishing is a big part of my life.” His agent didn’t let Oliver off the hook so easy, emphasizing what a big deal this was. “[But] I said, ‘You know what? I’m going to do my fishing trip.’”
