MOORE TO SAY

From her bad marriage to her career struggles, Mandy Moore has seemingly been an open book — but the This Is Us star has more to reveal

-

Mandy Moore opens up about the shocking turns her life has taken.

Ayear ago, Mandy Moore opened up like never before in an interview about work, love and family. She spoke about how she was “still dealing with the trauma of my divorce” from Ryan Adams when she met her new husband, Dawes frontman Taylor Goldsmith. She shared her gratitude at being cast on the hit NBC show This Is Us at a time when her career was otherwise at a standstill. She explained how therapy helped her heal amid her parents’ shocking divorce. And she also admitted she found it limiting that people always think of her as America’s sweetheart. “There’s more to who I am,” Mandy insisted.

Turns out, she’s stronger than anyone knew. In February — hoping to inspire other victims — Mandy, 35, courageously went on to reveal that Ryan, 44, was “psychologically abusive” and “controlling” to the point that she felt she was “drowning” during their six-year marriage. And she’s not done talking. Life & Style has learned that Mandy is preparing to let the world in on more of her heartbreaking untold story. “While Mandy has spoken about her personal life before,” says a source, noting she’s even talked about the anguish she continues to feel over ex Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein’s 2009 death, “there’s still a lot to tell.”

EMOTIONAL LET-GO

New music will no doubt provide one outlet. Mandy’s been working on her seventh studio album, and first in more than a decade. “I wouldn’t be surprised if the songs she’s writing and recording are super revealing,” says the source. “Mandy uses music to come to terms with her emotions.”

She also has a new TV show on the horizon. In October, ABC greenlit a

pilot for ’90s Popstar, a series she’s developing based on her early life as a young singer from Florida. The show, says the source, could offer more insight into Mandy’s untraditional family dynamic. Both of her brothers are gay, and at 23, the star, who was raised Catholic, learned that her mom was leaving her dad after 30 years of marriage — for a woman. “I couldn’t control what happened to

my immediate family, but I could control starting my own,” she’s said, explaining that her solution — marrying troubled rock star Ryan, who denies Mandy’s abuse claims — wasn’t the “smartest decision.”

Slowly but surely, she’s revealing her true self. “Friends wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a book in the future, too,” says the source. “Mandy just has so much left to say.”
