ROUGH PATCH

As Adam Levine and wife Behati Prinsloo drift apart, sources worry about the fate of their relationship

Adam Levine’s marriage to Behati Prinsloo is in big trouble — and some fear it may not last through 2020.

When Adam Levine announced his decision to leave The Voice after 16 seasons, fans were devastated. His model wife, Behati Prinsloo, however, was thrilled. The surprising departure was a surefire sign the Maroon 5 rocker was finally putting Behati and their two daughters before his career. “She made it clear if he didn’t start spending more time with his family, there would be serious consequences,” an insider told Life & Style at the time. “And he listened.”

For a little while, at least. Eight months later, as Adam, 40, gets set to resume a more than fivemonth concert tour, the couple’s five-year marriage is once again showing signs of strain. In fact, Life & Style’s exclusively learned that Behati, 31, was so fed up with the situation in December that she gave Adam a taste of his own medicine and fled to Mexico amid the holidays for a head- clearing girls’ getaway. “They’ve been going through a rough patch, and they are spending more and more time apart,” says a source of the pair, who are parents to Dusty, 3, and Gio, 22 months. “Their marriage is most definitely in crisis.”

Behati’s trip to Cabo San Lucas in mid-december — sans Adam, who stayed in LA — certainly raised eyebrows. According to the source, the stressed- out Victoria’s Secret stunner just needed a break. “She’s been hanging out with her friends a lot,” notes the source. “She’s leaning on her besties.”

Meanwhile, Adam’s been in his own little world. The source says he struggled to find his footing after leaving The Voice in May. The music man’s also had a tough time getting over the unexpected passing of his close childhood friend and longtime manager, Jordan Feldstein, who died from a pulmonary embolism at age 40 in late 2017. “He has felt lost at times,” admits the source. “It’s been a difficult few years for him, personally.”

Things had been looking up lately. After Adam lightened his workload considerably in 2019, an insider told Life & Style he was “ready to begin a new again jam-packed. When Maroon 5’s 2020 tour continues in February, it will take the father of two all across North and South America before eventually winding down in September. Plus, the source says he’s itching to return to The Voice (see sidebar). Behati can only take so much, though. “She’s often felt like a single mom,” says the insider. “Adam constantly being away causes tension and puts more stress on their marriage.”
