Khloé Kardashian’s new ring from Tristan Thompson sparks wedding speculation
Khloé Kardashian sets the record straight about new engagement buzz.
There was snow on the ground and a chill in the air as Khloé Kardashian and her daughter, True, made their way to Lookout Farms in Natick, Mass., on Dec. 22 to decorate gingerbread men. But the ice that had everyone talking had nothing to do with the freezing temperatures in the Boston suburb: Khloé was sporting an enormous pear-shaped diamond sparkler on her lefthand ring finger.
The stunning piece of jewelry instantly sparked speculation — including within her own family — that Khloé and back-on love Tristan Thompson are taking a big step forward in their roller-coaster romance. Life & Style has learned, however, that while the ring is a gift from the basketball player, he didn’t pop the question just yet. “Khloé’s had a hard time convincing her sisters Kim and Kourtney that it’s not an engagement ring,” admits a source, “but it’s more of a promise ring than anything else, and Khloé absolutely loves it.”
WOOING HER BACK
Tristan, 29, has a lot of promises to make, and keep, before Khloé, 36, accepts a marriage proposal. The NBA pro famously cheated on the reality star during her pregnancy, and
again in 2019 with Kylie Jenner’s former BFF Jordyn Woods, 23. While the pair grew close again during LA’S coronavirus lockdowns — with Tristan stepping up in a big way when Khloé herself caught COVID-19 — in late November, he signed a $19M, twoyear deal with the Boston Celtics and moved to Massachusetts, once again putting their relationship to the longdistance test. (He’d previously spent nine
years playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.) “He gave Khloé the ring when she and True were in Boston visiting him just before Christmas,” says the source. “Tristan is going above and beyond to prove his commitment to Khloé. He feels ready to marry her, but she needs to totally trust him first.”
While it will take more than a million-dollar ring to achieve that goal, “they’re making progress and things are going well between them,” notes the
source. “Tristan has even asked Khloé to move to Boston full-time, but she just isn’t ready to take that step right now.”
She is, however, trying to make it work. Though “Khloé still struggles with some insecurity issues from his past infidelity,” says the source, “she is open to marriage in the future. She can envision their wedding and wants to have another baby with Tristan. But the timing has to be right, and the trust has to be there.”
