ANA COMPLAINS TO BEN: JEN'S SO MEAN!
Tired of Jennifer Garner’s icecold attitude, Ana de Armas tells Ben Affleck to stand up for her
It’s one of the most important date nights of the year. Yet when Ana de Armas celebrated New Year’s Eve in her native Cuba, her boyfriend, Ben Affleck, was nowhere in sight. “She went to Cuba without Ben because she needed space,” reveals an insider. “She had expected to spend Christmas with him and his family, but she was banned from the festivities, which hurt.”
His ex, Jennifer Garner, was behind the ban.
While Ana has been pictured walking with the Alias alum, Ben and their kids Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, 8, Jen has no interest in treating Ben’s girlfriend like one of the family, claims the insider, and balked at the idea of spending the holidays with her. “Jen definitely isn’t Ana’s biggest fan and she shows it by being cold and unwelcoming,” says the insider. “But not letting her come to their family Christmas celebration was the last straw. Ana got into a huge argument with Ben over it. She told him that if he doesn’t stand up to his ex and get Jen to stop being mean to her, it’s over.”
IS JEN JEALOUS?
It isn’t the first time that Ben, 48, has found him
self torn between his former wife of 10 years and a woman. “When it comes to Ben’s girlfriends since the divorce,” a source says, “Jen always finds something wrong with them and picks at their flaws.” In Ana’s case, Jen allegedly thinks she’s an opportunist who is only dating Ben to up her profile. And she’s even more protective of their kids. “The idea of Ana playing stepmom to them makes her stomach turn,” shares the source.
Although Ana, 32, continues to try to be nice to Jennifer, 48, it’s been to no avail. “Jen’s attitude has only gotten worse over time,” says the insider, who speculates that there could be some jealousy at work: “It’s almost like she still has feelings for Ben and doesn’t want him to move on!” But it also doesn’t help that she and Ana are so different. “Ana is free-spirited and Jen is more serious and likes structure,” the insider explains. “Jen is upset that Ana is all about fun and games with both Ben and the kids, and feels that she’s not helping him be the grown man and father that Jen desperately
wants him to be.”
The situation is difficult for Ben, who adores Ana, but still holds his ex-wife close to his heart —and can’t bring himself to choose between them. “There’s nothing Ben wants more than for everyone to get along,” notes the insider. “But the way things are going, that’s becoming more and more unlikely!”
