MANUEL “MANNY” LUNA

Recently, Manuel “Manny” Luna passed away unexpected­ly after a sudden illness.

He was born on May 8, 1954 in the city of Wetmore, Texas, and was raised in Acampo, California. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1972.

Manny proudly served in the United States Navy from 1975 to 1980. The highlight of his military service was when he served on the Destroyer, and also the USS Hoel DDG 13 where he was joined by his brother, the late Rogelio “Roy” Luna. They both traveled the world while serving together on the same naval ship during the late 1970’s. He was also fond of the acoustic guitar, and he enjoyed playing and singing for friends and family. He was a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders football team, and was very vocal about supporting them. Mr. Luna was also a member of E Clampus Vitas Chapter 69. His pride and joy was his son which he liked to refer to as Little Manny.

Manny is survived by his son, Manuel Rogelio Luna of San Diego, his loving sister, Cristina Luna Barry of Lodi and up to three generation­s of nieces and nephews who all loved him very much, and they affectiona­tely referred to him as “Uncle Manny.”

He is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Guadalupe Luna, his sister Armandina Luna, brothers Albert Luna, Henry Luna, and Roy Luna. Posthumous­ly, his oldest brother Felix Luna passed away from a brief illness.

A Celebratio­n of Life is scheduled for December 10th, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the American Legion located at 320 North Washington Street in Lodi, California. All are welcome to attend as he receives his final military honors followed by a family potluck. Burial for Mr. Luna will be private. In lieu of sending flowers please make donations in the name of Manny Luna to the American Legion Post 22 in Lodi, California.
