Lodi soccer still in contention at Pitman tournament

-

Lodi High’s girls soccer team went 1-1 on Friday at the Pitman Tournament in Turlock, with a 2-0 win over Sonora and a 1-0 loss to Turlock.

Alexander Khoury scored in the first half against Sonora on a Rachel Sutter assist, and Alexis Abarca scored on a loose ball in the box during the second half. Shelby Hand blocked one shot against Sonora, and three in the loss to Turlock.

“We dominated possession, we dominated play, but we just couldn’t finish,” Lodi coach Tim Stutz said. “They had three opportunities, and scored on a good technical header on a corner kick. But I’m really happy with the play we had today. Really good movement. It’s just little details that if that’s all I have to worry about at this point in the season, I’m happy.”

Lodi plays Kimball and Gregori today, and still has a shot at winning the five-team group.
