Lodi Police Department is investigating two unrelated shooting incidents this weekend. One man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on Saturday while police are seeking information about a Sunday incident which left one victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the back.

Officers responded to a report of a gunshot coming from the inside of a residence on the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue on Saturday at 10:57 a.m., according to the Lodi Police Department.

When officers arrived, the victim told them that he was visiting one of the residents of the home when he was confronted by the homeowner, 56year-old Steven Meidinger, according to the police.

Meidinger allegedly pointed a shotgun and fired at the victim who was then standing outside of the residence, police said.

The victim was not hit and was able to wave down a passerby for help.

Meidinger surrendered to officers after walking out of the house as officers set up a perimeter, police said.

A single spent shotgun shell and a shotgun were recovered from the backyard, according to police. Meidinger was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Officers also responded to a shooting call on Sunday afternoon at 5:12 p.m. on the 700 block of South Garfield Street. They found a 22-year-old man who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was transported to an area hospital, where he is now in stable condition.

No suspects have been located in this incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Lodi Police Department at 209-333-6727 or to submit a tip anonymously by contacting the Lodi Area Crimestoppers at 209-369-2746. Those who give information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a reward.

One other person, 57-year-old Rogelio Olmos, was arrested on Saturday at 6:43 a.m. on the 500 block of South Sacramento Street after he violated a stay away order, police said. Officers found Olmos on the side of the house and allegedly failed to follow orders and show his hands, police said.

Officers ordered Olmos to the sidewalk at gunpoint and taken into custody on suspicion of contempt of court and was held in the jail on suspicion that he would be likely to continue since he was arrested for the same thing the evening before, police said.
