- By Christina Cornejo

After several hours searching for the third suspect in a Sunday shooting, Lodi police arrested a 17-year-old male from Lodi on the 400 block of Harold Street.

The shooting took place on the 400 block of Railroad Avenue at 3:09 a.m. on Sunday. The victim was struck and left paralyzed following the incident.

Lodi police spotted the teen Wednesday shortly before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Cherokee Lane and Tokay Street, where he fled from a vehicle, according to Lodi Police Sgt. Mike Manetti.

The suspect soon began moving between residences and jumping over fences between Harold and Tokay streets, according to police. Periodically, he hid in residents’ yards before moving to other areas, Manetti said.

Police called for the assistance of a CHP helicopter, which was seen hovering above the neighborhood for several hours, to watch for the suspect.

Lodi police brought in a K-9 unit and received assistance from a San Joaquin County Sheriff ’s Office K-9 unit.

Approximately 20 officers were on scene. A perimeter was formed between Garfield Street and Central Avenue and Tokay and Harold streets to contain the suspect.

Eventually, officers located the suspect moving behind cars at a residence where he was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident, according to Lodi Police Sgt. Kevin Kent. The arrest took place at around 5:45 p.m.

Two other 17-year-old suspects were arrested in connection with the shooting earlier this week and were sent to juvenile hall.
