Charlotte is an approximately 31⁄2-month old, spayed female, DSH black and white kitten. This sweet kitten has quite the distinctive look and a personality to match! Charlotte and her two sisters were rescued by PALS just a few weeks ago. When we first took them in they didn’t seem to have had much in the way of socialization with people, but our volunteers went right to work with them, showing them lots of love and attention, and they’re now very comfortable around people. When she’s not curled up with her sisters, Charlotte is an energetic and playful kitten. She loves to bat toy mice into the air and then pounce on them when they hit the floor. Charlotte’s just starting to understand the joys of being held and cuddled, but once she gets to know you, she goes into full snuggle mode, nuzzling your face, and purring to her heart’s content. If this sweet little girl sounds like the perfect kitten for you, please come in and meet her.

For more information about Charlotte, please call PALS at 209224-0354. To see other cats and dogs available for adoption, stop by the PALS Adoption Center located in Lodi at 1405 W. Kettleman Lane, next to the Lodi Animal Shelter. Center hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. PALS is a Lodi-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in Lodi by increasing the number of animals adopted, reducing animal suffering and providing the highest level of humane care; thus ultimately reducing the number of surplus companion animals euthanized in the city of Lodi. Visit our link at petfinder.com to view cats and dogs currently available for adoption or our website at

www.palslodi.org and find out how you can volunteer and/or foster the many animals waiting for permanent homes.

Sugar is a beautiful 7-year-old red Dachshund. Her senior owners passed away and there were no friends or family members that would care for her. She currently weighs 12.9 pounds. Sugar is current on her vaccinations, spayed and will be micro-chipped. We are also going to provide her with a much needed dental checkup. Sugar is still very active. When we took her to the vet she ran the two blocks (on leash) and would have kept running. She is housetrained and slept in her human’s bed. She is gentle and very affectionate, well-mannered and is a good little watch dog. Sugar is playful and is a lap dog, she gets along with other dogs and is good with cats. She rides well in the car, loves going for walks and enjoys dog parks. She also loves her belly rubs. Sugar likes to tell you a thing or two if she sees another dog getting attention and she isn’t getting it. This special girl will be a wonderful, loving companion that will make you smile.

Sugar is being offered for adoption through Animal Friends Connection, a Lodi nonprofit organization dedicated to helping companion animals since 1990. For more information about her, call 209-365-0535. To view other dogs and cats available for adoption, visit the sanctuary at 933 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi, or visit www.animalfriendsconnect.org or www.facebook.com/animalfriendsconnection. Sanctuary hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends.

Animal Friends Connection is seeking volunteers for the Walk N Wag program, held at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Our volunteer walkers take small dogs on a one-mile loop walk around our sanctuary. The dogs love it, and the walkers help keep them happy, healthy and well socialized. If you can’t adopt or foster, this is a great way to participate. Volunteer to make a difference!

Meet Zuzu! Or should we say Zuzu petals, named after the character Zuzu from “It’s A Wonderful Life.” She had been previously adopted and then abandoned before being surrendered to our group. Zuzu can be pretty shy at first and she’ll get a little nervous in the beginning. I anticipate she’ll hide for a few days and then begin exploring. Zuzu is looking for the real deal this time. She is a 15-20 year commitment and is very sweet. She likes to slap your hand if you pull away when she’s not finished being loved.

Zuzu is neutered, vaccinated, rabies checked, microchipped, dewormed, deflead and is available for adoption through Second Chance Kitty, a local nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to assisting cats, kittens and an occasional dog escape a life of abandonment, abuse and neglect. Interested parties may call the adoption coordinator at 209-8173030, visit our Facebook page at Second Chance Kitty, or email 2chancekittys@gmail.com.
