Kirbyson scores 29, Hawks ladies take down Florin

The Liberty Ranch girls basketball team did its damage in the first half of Tuesday’s 58-49 win over Florin, leading 33-21 at halftime.

Ashley Kirbyson went off for 29 points, followed by Tori Azevedo with eight, Celina Maberto with seven, Carson Lawton with four and five players with two each — Victoria Lambert, Isabel Moore, Giovanna Parino, Allison Huynh and Olivia Klotz.

Liberty Ranch dropped Wednesday’s game against Ripon Christian, 46-44, to fall back below .500 (7-8).

The Warriors fell to .500 with Wednesday’s loss, and sit at 6-6 in Phil Ricci’s first season at the helm.

The Hawks outscored the Falcons 22-12 in the fourth quarter to win at the Mesa Verde Division IV Challenge at Foothill High. Liberty Ranch improved to 7-4.

The Titans finished the preseason with a 2-2 record after Tuesday’s loss, and will open Mountail Valley League play at Tioga on Jan. 3.

Rami Abu-Ramaden led Lodi Academy with 19 points and 13 rebounds, with Tony Olivarria following at 14 points and seven boards and Will Dos Reis at 10 points. Alex Nevis added two.
