Eagles open St. Hope with victory
The Elliot High boys basketball team opened the St. Hope Elite Hoops Classic with a win on Tuesday, beating Antelope 68-42.
Onkar Sidhu and Nathan Bond led the Eagles with 19 points and eight rebounds each.
“We were up the whole game,” Elliot coach Jason Hitt said. “I was just happy to see everybody really rotating well coming off that Christmas break, but we definitely have to get to the line a lot more.”
Jimmy Belt added 14 points and seven boards, Jalen Valverde had 10 points and eight assists, and the trio of Nick Figueroa, Cody Doell and Spencer Sani had two points each.
Elliot (6-3) resumes play in the winners’ bracket against Hiram Johnson High at 5 p.m. today at Johnson.
BOYS BASKETBALL Varsity
The Tigers opened the St. Hope Elite Hoop Classic with a loss on Monday, falling into the consolation bracket. Tokay (4-7) will face Kennedy (5-4) in the second round today at 2:30 p.m. Freshmen
Richie Biegler scored 11 points and Ethan Bronson added 10 in the Flames’ loss on Tuesday. Andreas Pappas, Trevor Jackson and Brady Pike each added four, Kobe Linson, Cristian Garcia, Ben graces and David King had two each and Julius Latteri and Logan Stout had one each.
On Monday, Bigler had 19 and Jackson had 12 in a 58-36 win over Stagg at the Stagg Tournament.
