Lodi Council to consider commission appointments
The Lodi City Council is expected to consider Mayor Doug Kuehne’s recommendations for appointments to the Lodi Parks and Recreation Commission and the Lodi Senior Citizens Commission during its meeting set for tonight at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Hall.
The council is also expected to consider reposting for vacancies on the Lodi Senior Citizens Commission and the Personnel Board of Review.
According to the City Clerk Jennifer Ferraiolo, back in October she was directed to post for two expiring positions on the Parks and Recreation Commission, two expiring positions on the Senior Citizens Commission and three expiring positions on the Personnel Board of Review.
After reviewing the applications and conducting interviews, Kuehne recommended Larry Long and Layne Van Noy for appointment to the Parks and Recreation Commission and Julie Whiteley for appointment to the Senior Citizens Commission.
Long and Whiteley are incumbents while Van Noy will be filling the seat formerly held by Bre Meyer.
Their terms will expire on Dec. 31, 2020.
He also recommended a repost for the remaining vacancy on the Senior Citizens Commission. Due to the fact that there were no new applications for the Personnel Board of Review and only one valid application is on file, it was recommended that the city reposts for the three vacancies until they are filled.
If appointed, Long and Van Noy will the join rest of the Parks and Recreation Commission in studying and offering recommendations on programs, facilities, and the finances of Lodi Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services.
The Parks and Recreation Commission meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. in Carnegie Hall.
If reappointed Whiteley, will rejoin the Senior Citizens Commission in identifying and addressing the needs and issues affecting Lodi’s senior citizens.
The Senior Citizens Commission meets every first Thursday at 8 a.m. at the Hutchins Street Square Senior Center.
