Tail-waggers

Sam is a 9-week-old, male, Anatolian shepherd/pit bull mix; Sam weighs approximately 14.5 pounds! When Sam’s mom, an Anatolian shepherd mix, was brought into the shelter in mid-October, she was clearly pregnant, so PALS rescued her and placed her in the foster home of one of our amazing volunteers so that she could have her litter of pups in a safe and warm environment. Nine days later, she began giving birth to her six puppies. Sam is brown and white, and his five siblings are Mackenzie (chocolate brown and white), Zeb (brindle), Ben (brown and white), Lucy (black and white), and Sebastian (brown and white). These puppies are all very playful and active, and it’s a blast to see them running and scampering after one another, and crashing into a ball of puppy cuteness. They’re all very socialized with people, as well, and there’s nothing quite like all of them trying to jump in your lap for some cuddles at the same time. These cute puppies will be available for adoption in the next few weeks, so if you’re interested in adopting Sam, or want to see one of the other puppies in the litter, please come by and meet them!

For more information about Sam, please call PALS at 209-224-0354. We have other cats and dogs available for adoption so stop by the PALS Adoption Center located in Lodi at 1405 W. Kettleman Lane, next to the Lodi Animal Shelter. Center hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. PALS is a Lodi-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of companion animals in Lodi by increasing the number of animals adopted, reducing animal suffering and providing the highest level of humane care; thus ultimately reducing the number of surplus companion animals euthanized in the city of Lodi. Pobert was found in a cat colony with her siblings in Stockton. Pobert likes to run as fast as she can around the house and meow to get you to chase her. She loves carrying balls around like a dog. She is very independent but has a sweet affectionate side. She loves to lay in the window. She will come cuddle with her human but only on Pobert time. She’s very curious and will follow you about when you’re doing chores. She has been raised with dogs and cats and is indifferent to them, neither seeking their attention nor hissing at them. Pobert is indoor-only and eats a quality food with low or no grain and gets a small amount of canned as a treat each night.

Pobert is spayed, vaccinated, rabies, microchipped, dewormed, deflead and available for adoption through Second Chance Kitty, a local non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to assisting cats, kittens and an occasional dog, escape a life of abandonment, abuse and neglect. Interested parties may contact the Adoption Coordinator 209-817-3030, via our Facebook page at Second Chance Kitty, or email at 2chancekittys@gmail.com. Gus, is an 11-month-old German shepherd. He was abandoned, left at the sanctuary during the night. He is current on his vaccines, dewormed, flea treatment and his rabies and is has been neutered and micro-chipped. We have worked on some training but he will need more. He seems to learn quickly. Gus is still a puppy, he is great on a leash and rides well in the car. Gus loves people and children, although might need more training before being around younger children. He likes to play bow. He plays fetch and will bring it back however may not always drop it at this time. He is not a barker, only seems to bark when someone walks by with a dog. He loves chew toys and his bed. He is house trained and has never gone potty in the house. Gus ignores the fosters parakeets, but is not good with cats. We think he would love to be with another large, active dog. He weighs 48 pounds. Gus will be an wonderful companion.

Gus is being offered for adoption through Animal Friends Connection, a Lodi nonprofit organization dedicated to helping companion animals since 1990. For more information about her, call 209-365-0535. To view other dogs and cats available for adoption, visit the sanctuary at 933 S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi, or visit

www.animalfriendsconnect.org or www.facebook.com/animalfriendsconnection. Sanctuary hours are from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekends.

Animal Friends Connection is seeking volunteers for the Walk N Wag program, held at 10 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Our volunteer walkers take small dogs on a onemile loop walk around our sanctuary. The dogs love it, and the walkers help keep them happy, healthy and well socialized. If you can’t adopt or foster, this is a great way to participate. Volunteer to make a difference!
