ROBERT “BOB” E. HENSLEY

-

Robert “Bob” E. Hensley, passed away on January 3, 2017. He was born the eighth of twelve children on October 23, 1940, in Oakland, California to his parents Joseph and Beulah Hensley. Bob enjoyed his 39 year career at PG&E, where he had the pleasure of attending to his customers, and proud of his service to his country in the U.S. Army, 1958-1962. However, he has most proud of being the father of his three children, being Papa to his cherished granddaughter, and treasured his marriage of 49 years to his teenage sweetheart, Cathy. During his 76 years of life Bob truly enjoyed the simpler things most of all; reading, cooking, and baking. Each Christmas, Bob baked 17 varieties of cookies making a total of 2000, and gave them away as Christmas gifts.

His life was filled with plenty of joys and others that challenged him, including the heart-breaking passing of their baby boy, Robert E. Hensley, Jr., to SIDS.

Bob is survived by his wife, Cathy Hensley, of Lodi; son, Patrick M. Hensley and wife, Allison, of Utah; daughter, Jennifer M. Cohen and husband, Hayim “Hy” Cohen, and granddaughter, Serenity M. Cohen, of Stockton; as well as sister, Carol Savin and husband Joe, of Redwood City.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 10, at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1510 Century Blvd. A graveside service will be held at 11am at Lodi Memorial Cemetery at 5750 E. Pine St. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations may be made to Stanford University Research Center for cancer “Gist” in memory of Robert E. Hensley. Lodi Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. A guest book may be signed at www.lodifuneralhome.com.
