STEVEN DOUGLAS BECKMAN

-

It is with much sadness that I share the heartbreaking news of my father Steven Douglas Beckman’s death on January 7, 2017. He was born in Lodi California on February 12, 1957 to John and Emily Beckman and grew up in a lively family with his four brothers. My dad developed a love of plants, especially orchids. This love took him on travels to South America and Africa. While in Africa he became especially interested in the plants of Madagascar which lead to his translating the book The Flora of Madagascar from French to English.

Pursing his love of plants he moved to the Bay Area in 1986 to start a business as a landscape contractor. He later became interested in computers becoming a computer technologist. While he was in the Bay Area he met, and married, and had his only child Katherine Beckman.

In 2012 Steve moved back to Lodi where he continued to enjoy working with his plants and his many collections. Most recently he became a member of the local Elks Lodge where he spent many enjoyable hours.

My father was proceeded in death by his parents John and Emily Beckman and his Brothers Robert, David and Jim Beckman. Surviving Steve is his daughter Katherine Beckman and his brother John Beckman.

Due to the suddenness of his death a service has not been arranged at this time.
