Preseason softball: Flames fall to Calaveras in hit-fest at home
The Lodi High softball team got into a scoring fest with Calaveras on Wednesday, only to see the visitors post a 16-11 win at the Lodi Softball Complex.
Shelby Featherston led the Flames with a 4-for-4 day, including a triple and a double, but Lodi gave up eight runs in the first two innings of the loss at the. Marissa Fabian and Ashley Toy added three singles each.
Other hitters for Lodi (2-2-1) were Harlie Litton with two singles, Rylie Brooks with two-singles, Allisa Yabumoto with a double, Kali Mazza with a single and two RBIs and singles from Meagan Gonzalez and Dessa Zavala.
Keala Brown drove in Simone Medeiros with a first-inning groundout, but the Tigers’ lead didn’t last in Wednesday’s loss.

The Flames led 11-2 after four innings, but couldn’t end the game on a 10-run rule, allowing Calaveras to come back and win. Brooke Lewis led Lodi (1-1) with a 4-for-4 day with four RBIs.
Other Lodi hitters were Kiara Baker (3-for-4 with three runs), Madison Faul (3-for-4 with three RBIs), Brianna Barr (3-for-4 with two RBIs), and singles from Alexia Hall, Gianna Guidi, Britni Machen (with two RBIs) and Diana Huerta. Lewis pitched a complete game, striking out seven while walking one.

BASEBALL
Playing at the Gregori/Salida Rotary Classic Tournament in Modesto, Lodi (2-1) had 10 hits that led to the win over the host Jaguars.
Ian Watanabe had three hits and three RBIs for the Flames. Cody Mize, along with teammates Lucas Foster and Angelo Zazzarino, has two hits each. Miza had two RBis, and Foster also had an RBI.
On the mound, Lodi pitchers Jonathan Charboneau, Owen Christensen and Jason Myers split time. Christensen picked up the win. Gregori was held to seven hits.
Today, Lodi plays Pitman in the tourney.
