Roco is an approximately 6-year-old, neutered beagle. He is very laid-back and easy-going, and he has a very friendly and outgoing personality. Roco loves being doted on by our volunteers, and he’s always eager to meet new people and make new friends.

Roco loves getting his ears scratched, and when he’s feeling nice and relaxed he’ll roll over on his back for some enthusiastic belly scratching. Roco’s pretty energetic, too, and he’ll chase after a tennis ball with the enthusiasm of a puppy, even if he won’t actually get the ball and bring it back to you — he’s a character like that!

Roco walks very well on the leash, and he knows some commands, like “sit” and “stay.” We’re currently working on teaching him the “down” command. Continued basic obedience training is recommended for Roco, though, to help him reach his full canine potential. If you think Roco would be the perfect addition to your family, please come in and meet him.

••• Hank was born to a feral mother in a nice Stockton neighborhood. As Hank grew up, he had contact from the neighborhood feral cat feeders and caretakers. Hank grew up homeless, in the sense he didn’t have a family to claim to him as their own, but he did have a community family within the neighborhood.

A few weeks ago, the caretakers noticed Hank wasn’t looking so well. His fur was all wet and matted on his tail and back side, and he was walking oddly. Concerned for the community cat, they reached out to us and asked if we could help him.

Hank was admitted to the hospital that day where he had X-rays that revealed no issues; his blood work came back good. He was shaved on his tail when he was neutered to keep him clean and free from matting, and was treated with antibiotics. He spent two weeks at the hospital and appears to have made a full recovery.

This beautiful blue eyed boy is very sweet and even drools when you give him chin scratches. He would love to go to a calm home, ideally where someone is home during the day, as he loves attention and can spend his days on your lap! Hank is looking for a forever home and a 15 to 20 year commitment.

Hank eats a low to no grain food and is allowed to free graze on it. Like all Second Chance Kitty cats, Hank is strictly indoor only. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, deflead, FeLV/FIV tested negative and litter box trained.

••• Dylan is a 4-year-old dachshund mix, weighing 15.5 pounds. This little guy was picked up as a stray in Lodi and no one claimed him.

Dylan is on the shy side until he gets to know you, then he’s your best friend. He enjoys his walks and spending time with people, but doesn’t have much interest in playing with toys. He is a total lap dog. He likes carrots and chicken for a treat. Dylan does get a little whiny when the staff leaves, but he quiets down when they listen from outside.

Dylan would do best with a family who has older children, he will alert if someone comes to the door. His vaccinations are current, and he has been neutered, microchipped, defleaed and dewormed. He just wants his people and will be a wonderful companion.
