EVELYN DOW COMARTIN

-

1927 – 2017

Our songbird went to rest. Evelyn Dow Comartin died on Feb.22 at 90 years of age. Born in Santa Rosa, Ca. on Jan. 2, 1927, she grew up in Lodi with three siblings and her family owned Dow’s Nursery. As a young girl, she loved dancing and performed at various venues in costumes made by her talented mother, Kathryn. She also had a classically trained voice and studied at Pacific College.

She married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” Comartin, and together they raised three children: Craig, Carla, and Cecelia. Bill owned a successful business in Lodi; Comartins Locker and Freezer Service. Evelyn enjoyed quite a local career as a singer for weddings, funerals, and many public and private functions. Evelyn’s most impressive hobby was her gourmet cooking skills. Everyone had his or her own favorite ‘Noni’ recipe which we all try to create with various levels of success and lots of butter!

Evelyn was preceded in death by Bill on Mar. 6, 2015. She is survived by her three children, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren (+ 1 more on the way.) Her burial service will be private.
