Liberty Oaks starts 2017 with rally event
Liberty Oaks Pony Club (LOPC) has had a busy start to 2017.
We kicked off the year with members attending the Horse Management Day at Shone Farm in Forestville on Jan. 15.
This event provided invaluable education on Horse Management requirements for future rally attendance.
The following weekend (Jan. 26 to 29), LOPC members attended the National Equine Symposium & Convention in Los Angeles, Calif.
This wonderful opportunity offered a gathering place for clubs throughout the nation to come together to network, make new friendships, share ideas, attend educational workshops, and encourage each other. Hawley Bennett, with top placings at The Rolex Kentucky and the Canadian Olympics, was the keynote speaker at the evening banquet.
On March 11, LOPC members attended the first rally of the year — Everything But The Horse (EBTH), hosted by Silver State Pony Club at Consumnes River Elementary School.
This rally allowed members to incorporate the information learned earlier at the Horse Management Day and apply it to a live rally, without their horses.
It consisted of 11 participating teams, competing at turnout inspections, dressage and stadium jumping. The day ended with an awards ceremony, with Liberty Oaks placing first and also receiving the Championship Award.
Most recently, LOPC members attended the Quiz Rally in Morgan Hill on March 18th.
During the full-day rally each of 23 teams moved through different stations to test horse management knowledge, as an individual and as a team. Liberty Oaks placed third.
The rally also allowed for qualifications for the Kentucky Championships.
Our members our anxiously awaiting the final results, with the hopes they qualified for Kentucky.
