MICHAEL RAYMOND WHITING

On Wednesday evening, March 29th, Michael Raymond Whiting unexpected­ly passed away. He was born in Denver, Colorado on December 7th, 1948 to Kenneth and Jeanette Whiting. He was 68 years old.

He spent his childhood in Westminist­er, Colorado moving to Lodi in 1959. He attended Needham Grammar School and graduated from Lodi High, Class of 1966.

Mike processed milk at the Milk Stop and also delivered milk to the schools. He also owned and managed Mike’s Texaco gas station and ended up manufactur­ing and installing cultured marble. He retired in 1994.

While delivering milk to Tokay Colony School, he met a young teacher, Christine Casazza. They married in 1973. They spent 43 wonderful years together.

He is survived by his wife Christine, his daughter Nicole Yochum (Brian), his son John Whiting (Jennifer), his granddaugh­ter Jaina Yochum and grandson Jeffrey Yochum. He is also survived by his brother Steve Whiting (Randy), his sisters Cassie Christophe­rson (Ed) and Michelle Whiting along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Ken and Jeanette Whiting along with his grandparen­ts. He enjoyed sports, especially watching his children play them. He was a “Faithful Forty Niner” fan never missing watching a game on TV and also rooted for the San Francisco Giants.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 11:00 AM, in the Chapel of Flowers-Cherokee Memorial Park. Memorial Contributi­ons may be made in the donor’s choice.
